contaminated stacks characterization

Category: Deactivation & Decommissioning > Characterization
Published: 6/11/2008 Last Updated: 6/26/2008

Hi, I am currently working on the stacks demolition process for all the chimneys located at the ORNL. I have been asked by my mentor to search for a conceptual technology that could be applied to this procedure. The first step set on my investigation it is to find previous decommissioning work done in this type of structure that could help us establish all the variables needed to take into consideration. Also, if there is any technology available that could be used in the process of characterization such as (but not limited to) remote -controlled since due to contamination and safety issues this work can’t be done by humans.
