Polymeric Barrier System

Solution entered: 3/10/2008    Solution updated: 3/17/2008

PBS is a sealant sold by Bartlett Nuclear Services. It costs about $40.00 per gallon and can be mixed with water. A more inexpensive product is a dust suppressant used in road building called "Dust Bond". Hanford sprays the inside of buildings with a ratio of 4 parts water to 1 part Dust Bond. For coating newly excavated soil, they use a 10:1 mixture.
