Demonstration Information

Technology Name: Airborne Laser-Induced Fluorescence Imaging

Demonstration Name:FEMP Plant 1 (Building 1A) | Demonstrated on: 11/19/1996
Demonstration Site: Fernald Environmental Management Project

Demo Objective

The primary objective of this demonstration was to determine if the baseline technology for radiological clearance survey can be replaced using LIF .

Demo Results

-The technology appears to have its best applications as a screening tool in areas where large surfaces need to be accessed and where access to certain areas is difficult due to height or limited access issues. -The technology model offers advantages when used as a screening tool to identify areas of potential uranium contamination, to help define boundaries of contaminated areas, and to track the progress of decontamination effort.
