Asimo is Honda's human-type robot. Some of Asimo's technology was used to develop a robotic arm in just six months with the intention of helping at Fukushima. The mechanical arm is designed to open and close valves

It was acknowledged that the first idea was to send in Asimo to help out, but that was not possible because the robot cannot maneuver in rubble, and its delicate computer parts would malfunction in radiation.
The technology within Asimo consists of facial recognition and voice recognition which combined with arms and legs allow it to perform tasks such as serving different drinks to different people.
